Barber: Obama Deserved Four Pinocchios For His Filibuster Claim

The Washington Free Beacon’s Ellison Barber appeared on Fox News to discuss President Obama receiving four Pinocchio’s from the Washington Post over his claim that Republicans have “filibustered about 500 pieces of legislation.”

He made the false statement at a DCCC fundraiser in California, telling fellow supporters that Republicans are to blame for the lack of legislation passed and likely trying to elicit donations.

The Washington Post fact checked President Obama’s statement and found that 527 motions for cloture were filed, not necessarily the amount of filibusters that actually occurred, Barber said.  However, only 133 of the 527 motions were actual filibusters.

“Either he [President Obama] doesn’t understand the actual definition of a filibuster…or he was using it as kind of a political lie or a tool to embolden his base because he was talking about minimum wage and pocketbook issues, keeping the Senate as well as taking back the House…” Barber explained.
