Aid group that received $700,000 during Hillary’s tenure under investigation

This is not the first time money was sent to questionable entities under Clinton's leadership.

An aid group that received hundreds of thousands in taxpayer dollars during Hillary Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State is now allegedly under investigation for corruption.

The group at the center of the investigation is the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), who are funders of the organization, recently sent an official to probe the group, in which they questioned the allocation of funds and how much top officials at the organization were receiving, according to recent reports.

“The investigator asked us how the funds were being used, and raised a lot of questions on the salaries which senior officials were getting,” an insider told

The group is accused of awarding its three top officials a combined $16,000 per month. The coalition, which has 16 employees on file, has a monthly “wage bill” of $34,000 — the salaries of the top 3 employees accounting for almost half of that. McDonald Lewanika, the Director of the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition, is the highest paid pocketing $7,000 a month while a security guard is the lowest paid at $300.

USASpending shows in 2012 the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition received $700,000 from USAID during the time Hillary Clinton headed the State Department. While USAID is an independent government organization, it receives “overall foreign policy guidance from the Secretary of State” and its foreign assistance budget is managed within the State Department, as America Rising points out.

A 2013 audit report released in October of last year found the group failed “to uphold the principles of good governance and protect the integrity of the institution.” reached out the coalition’s acting chairperson, Samukeliso Khumalo, in which she said she cannot discuss internal organizational issues with the media.

This is not the first time a corrupt entity received taxpayer funds under Hillary Clinton. Worse yet, billions went missing under her watch.

In a move USAID said was “reaffirmed” by Clinton, waivers were given to millions sent in taxpayer dollars to the corrupt Afghan government in which Hillary oversaw — waivers which exempted measures taken internally to prevent fraud, waste, or theft.

“In internal government documents with potential repercussions for the 2016 presidential election, top officials at the U.S. Agency For International Development repeatedly cited former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for setting into motion a policy to waive restrictions on who could receive U.S. aid in Afghanistan, resulting in millions of dollars in U.S. funds going directly into the coffers of Afghan ministries known to be rife with corruption,” the Washington Times previously reported.

Additionally, an earlier IG report found $6 billion went missing during a six year period which included the entire time Clinton was at the State Department. The report found a “significant financial risk and… a lack of internal control.”
